Counselling for Toads - who is to blame for your unhappiness
Music Video: Counselling for Toads
~ based on the book Counselling for Toads by Robert De Board, Kenneth Grahame
Friends:
All this must stop here!
We are all trying to help you
But you don’t seem to want to help yourself
Finally toad went to see a counsellor
Toad:
What can I do to feel better?
Do you think I will get better?
Counselor:
If I don’t believe that
Everyone has the ability to be better
I wouldn’t be doing this job
Toad:
I feel as if I am not worth of anything
I made a mess of my life
Sometimes, I am angry
But I’m not sure who or what I’m angry at
Counselor:
In the end
We choose how we feel
We choose to be angry
We choose to be sad
Toad:
You can’t blame me for depression
It doesn’t help me
Counselor:
So who is to blame for your unhappiness
During this time?
Toad:
You want me to blame myself?
Counselor:
How does taking responsibility sound compared to blaming?\
What we see of ourselves is not necessarily what we like\
From who are now
To who you want to be
It requires behavior and attitude changes
It requires hard work
It takes courage and determination
The words and deeds of our parents
Shaped our childhood life and
Inevitably have an impact on our later life
But we are of no means a copy of our parents
We are independent individuals
If you can take responsibility for yourself
You will realize that
You have autonomy over yourself
So you know you have the power
To change the situation and yourself
.....
Toad understands
Only himself can walk on the road of growth
Toad bravely explored his inner world
And gradually regained his confidence and hope
