~ excerpts from the book The Creative Act: A Way of Being by Rick Rubin
the magic lives in the wonder of what we do not know
we are required to believe in
something that doesn’t exist
in order to allow it to come into being\
listening opens possibilities
it allows you to see a bigger world
try to experience everything
as if for the first time
less is generally more
do what you can
with what you have
nothing more is needed
sometimes the smallest elements
are the ones that weigh the most\
competition serves the ego
cooperation supports the highest outcome
we all benefit
when the best idea is chosen
regardless of whether
it’s ours or not
there are no shortcuts
the work reveals itself as you go
living in discovery
is at all times preferably to
living through assumptions
when the work has five mistakes
it’s not yet completed
when it has eight mistakes
it might be
success is harder to come by
when your life depends on it
content can come from jobs that that
has nothing to do with your passion
creativity is something you are
not only something you do
making complicated simple
awesomely simple
that’s creativity
